Just picked this up from the LCS. Something caught my eye almost immediately. Let's do a GTG with a bonus make believe point for figuring out why I brought it home with me:

    A Quarter Has No Grade.jpg

Note: You can't really tell from the photos you get above, but it also has somewhere round a 15 degree die rotation, which I thought was interesting. Not sure if it's enough to warrant an additional premium (if I'm wrong, educate me, please.)

Congratulations, @ksparrow - you win an imaginary gift certificate to the imaginary store of your choice. Spend it wisely!

    Date.jpg

Yep - this is the MPD (MisPlaced Date) FS-301. Been searching all day (well, that's to say for about an hour, which seems like all day) for more info on it and haven't found much besides a passing mention on the PCGS CoinFacts page (which doesn't even have a photo.) NGC Variety Plus also is without an image.

It's listed in the CherryPicker's Guide (has an image).

Well everyone take a good look at this one as you're looking at a once in a life time cherry pick .....worth $4500/ $5000 easy......and this my friends is why you cherry pick!

I'm going to go ahead and share the slab photos, since most people are guessing pretty closely...although @BlackBeard_Thatch is going to win Showcase #3 (the extra secret one that's just a pirate treasure chest full of uncirculated silver coins from the 1800's) for getting it correct first, and @SchwaVB57 gets the consolation second prize of Newfoundland (yes, the whole thing):

And this, my friends, is why you read. Books, yes, but also just poking around the forum. I'm not sure who it was (maybe @jtlee321 ?) who has been posting great images of Indian Head Cents with MPD. If it weren't for their efforts, I'd have never known what I was looking at.

So...special thanks to everyone on the forum who shares their finds here.

This is why I cannot stress enough to YN'S as well as newbies how important reading and research is in this hobby.
Yes it is sometimes luck......but luck can't replace knowledge!
Or the willingness to seek it out... ;)

Now idk what the book value is for a plain jane 64. Im gonna guess the MPD adds a premium of a couple 3 or 4 grand if Paddys estimate is correct. This really is the cherry of a lifetime, and if u plan on keeping, i suggest u re-think ur position and sell, sell, sell
Then u can buy a coin or 3 that u REALLY WANT :woot: drool

Well, it will most likely get piggybacked on a fellow CT member's PCGS submission for attribution, and then sold (or traded.) Currently it is the only Seated Quarter I own - so it doesn't fit my "collection." But yes, hopefully it will fund some other exciting purchase. I was joking with Paddy that it basically is worth a running 1970-72 El Camino (not a nice one, but a running one.) Which... is my dream car (also includes the 1967, which is my favorite before the 1970, but way pricier.)

So, if it turns into my dream car... (cue gif of something jumping up and down excitedly)

To those who find misplaced dates interesting I recommend Kevin Flynn's guide as a good pocket reference. You can Google it and find several outlets whom sell it.

It's one of Paddy's picks for success in cherrypicking.
