Thanks, the scuffs on the rev are much less apparent, and I think the rub on the obv (esp right leg) is more apparent on the ngc images. To me that explains the straight AU grade. nice pickup!
Looks better than AU58 to me. Also looks to have been harshly cleaned. To me, that is an odd grade. MS Details would have been my guess.
I had the same thought. I wonder how the coin looks in hand verses the photos. Are those hairlines that looked to be from a cleaning much less apparent in hand? They are so hard to grade in photos.
They are more apparent under a loupe, but in hand it is quite attractive with some marks visible. I'll be 100% honest too...i dipped this coin shortly before submitting it as it had some PVC residue/smell...it still has quite a bit of luster...and I agree 58 is an odd grade but also agree that it may be a "market acceptable" grade...
