I have been looking for a set of the Lewis and Clarke coin and currency that the mint released in 2004. I found a site that claims to have them for sale in the original wrapper. My concern is that they also have some sets for sale with some exotic puches for $300 or more. What is to stop them from opening all the sewts, grabbing the ones with the cool pouches, and then re-sealing the rest to be sold as original wrapped sets?

was anyone able to buy a set from the mint? if so, did it have any mint markings on the shrink wrap?

excuse my skepticizm, but knowledge minimizes getting screwed :)

I purchased some from the mint, they came in a box with no shrink wrap. I would think the only way to be sure is if they were in a sealed brown box from the mint. The problem with those sets is that they were selling the pouches for at least on indian tribe to people other than the us mint. You really dont know if someone switched the pouch. Thats my opinion.

That seems really high... Isn't there only 1 coin in those sets? I was out bidded not long ago on one of those at around $60.

i agree speedy, $300 is a bit high... if i am am able to buy a set, i hope as drb mentioned, its not a pouch that wasnt originaly part of the program - it just takes the uniqueness out of it IMHO
