Hi All, Anyone know anything about this one? I tried some research but came up empty on this one. Is it a Medal or an actual Coin? I really like it, and thinking of picking it up. Thought I would check with you guys first. Any opinions or info. would be appreciated.
Thanks Kurt. They have it listed as a Copper Dollar. Which I have never heard of before. I'll try some research on a Coronation Medal then.
Try also an "Accession Medal". Victoria died very early in 1901, but Edward VII was not formally coronated until 1902. He became effectively king on Victoria's death but coronation is a big ceremonial deal.
There are a variety of "fantasy dollars" I think, both Ed and Vicky. Here is a link to a set of the 'Victoria types": https://24carat.co.uk/1901canadathreecoinretropatternset.html
Here is another listing/availability of fantasies: https://coins.www.collectors-society.com/wcm/CoinCustomSetView.aspx?s=13429 I should have looked here first, but forgot. In my 'Krause Unusual World Coins, 6th edition", it is listed in the Canada "Medallic Coinage section as X# 12a, bronze, mintage of 750 and retail value $20 US in proof.
Thanks Kurt and Bill. Really appreciate the Research and ID. Medallic Coinage is a new one For me. Never heard the term before. Think it will look nice in my Medal Cabinet though.
