Obviously fakes. Do people with even remotely average intelligence fall for this kind of writing:

"Coin found on Uncle Jon's side of the Mansion's Attic in Queens he had it in his Armoire tucked in a pouch it must be special. It's fabulous looking that's for sure Greek Roman Ancient AD BC Helios is looking at you from every angle and the horse on the other side is so stately, this is un-researched but I am learning as I am going along and this is among my favorite looking coins, kind of sad kind of like Mona Lisa I don't know I am a nurse, the trade is as-is it is a relic it's fabulous. I am dealing with a loss of a loved one so I am not about going back and fourth the relic was cherished so let's make sure we keep it that way, thank you :O)"

I'm surprised the writer didn't include "my little kitties are starving and I can't buy cat food so please buy this soon..."

Wow, he is even selling fake LRBs. Amazing! Sad too that fake LRBs are a thing these days.

Soapy legends and the lack of detail is much greater than anything you could account for with normal wear. if I can see that much of the cloack present , I'd expect the hair and eyes to have more detail than that, and not be a soapy mess. Definitely a cast. Interesting fake patina though. Would definitely fool an idiot with lots of money and no desire to do any research.

I bet under magnification the castin bubbles would be apparent, which is why we get such bad photo.

And here is the description from seller:

"Found in Uncle Jon's Side of the Attic's Mansion in Queens another Friday romantic owl gift for his Cherished Aunt Betty who loved owls 2/2 found so far that are similar - I do my best with the pictures I am a nurse and traveling from the shore to clear this stuff out the trade is as-is un-researched, it is relic, it's fabulous. I am dealing with a loss of a loved one so I am not about going back and fourth the relic was cherished so let's make sure we keep it that way, thank you :O)"

    And yes---NO RETURNS!!!:vomit::yuck:

If you ever needed a reason to avoid Ebay, here it is waiting to help part an idiot from his money.

un-researched!! Indeed!! Honestly! Can’t ebay Do something about this? Won’t this ruin the hobby? This gets my goat, and not one of those two headed goats on The Vespasian posthumous coin.

Wasn't sure if it would be worth trying to do anything. Thought I would give folks a chuckle though.

Ruin the hobby? If you are buying one of these in the first place you are not really into the ancient coins hobby. I'd like to think even someone who hasn't been collecting for more than 3 months would never fall for any of these coins, even the LRBs.

    Just look at this:

    GENUINE:

Thessaly, Larissa Hemidrachm.jpg Thessaly, Larissa. Ca. 356-342 B.C.
AR hemidrachm. Ex BCD, Ex C.C., May 1993.

    (15.58 mm, 2.32 g, 10 h).
Head of the nymph Larissa facing slightly left
ΛAPIΣ-AIΩN, Horse standing right, preparing to roll.
BCD Thessaly II 333; SNG Copenhagen 132. VF.
    Ex BCD,
    Ex C.C., May 1993.

    FAKE FROM UNCLE JOHN'S ATTIC:

If the style and fake patina/wrong material are not enough to raise a red flag, I'd at least hope those unnatural razor-sharp edges clearly raised some sort of alarm, even if you knew very little about these coins. Even someone who doesn't know anything about this coin type, but is familiar with ancient Greek coins, should have had some red flags flashing in their heads when they saw this. But if none of that raised an alarm for you, maybe this hobby isn't for you.

At a flea market over the weekend, a seller handed me a "silver" ancient coin priced at $300 and I told him it wasn't worth $1...huge casting seam along the edge.

I believe there are possibly two genuine coins in the group. One is the $35 LRB in the airtite. The other is the Gadhaiya Paisa also $35 and marked oddly shaped. Each of these coins is worth something closer to $3.50.

There are many genuine coins on eBay. A few of them are reasonably priced. Anyone unclear with how to tell the differences on these two points should avoid eBay as a whole (and most other venues).

I'm not sure about the Airtite encased LRB but the corrosion type would be harder to fake so it may be OK. The one Sallent posted is bad. The GP looks possibly right but I have never considered buying one that awful. They tend to be sold by the potful so we can pick out a round one:

Disclaimer: The following is a parody of the OP's EBay seller. :)

Hey guys. I was searching my Aunt Gertrude's attic just now and I found this ultra rare ancient Greek or Roman coin of Emperor Steamboat Willie Germanicus Caesar, or possibly Plato or Aristotle (I really have no idea).

My aunt Gertrude loved this coin and now it can be yours for only $400,000. I haven't done any research on this coin but I know I could get $1,000,000,000 for this, but I need to feed my starving quintuplets, and my aunt Jemima got a rare illness from pancake syrup and needs urgent quadruple tongue implants.

    front_1045_14.jpg

Oh, and my uncle, Captain Crunch, needs emergency brain transplant too from service related injuries sustained while in command of the USS Cereal Bowl.

And I am the top nurse in the world. I've saved 1,000,000 patients. Just something to think about. Would an internet nurse lie to you?

    PS: No refunds!

How much money do you really think they want to invest in hurting their profits?

Naw, fakes have been around forever. They've always been there and always will be and the hobby is always just fine

Unresearched, but the prices are all over the place. I wonder how he set his prices. Random number generator? Or did he really do so research to see what the originals went for.
