I was at a show today and was looking through a $5 ancient bin when I saw this little guy. I thought "English", possibly later Anglo-Saxon, and knew that I had to have it. It's in crummy condition for sure, but can any of you ID it?

Thanks. Wow. I was way off geographically. This coin is actually from present-day Turkey. I saw the cross and thought English.

Yeah! Bohemund III. I used to have one which I sold recently.

Is it worth any more than the $5 I paid for it?

Hard to say...it is in very rough shape. However, I think it's definitely worth at least what you paid for it.

I think it's worth a few bucks so you didn't overpay. But the way I look at it, you learned something, and maybe learned a lot if you poked around the web for info on Bohemund and crusader coins. So you got a low end but identifiable coin plus knowledge for $5; that's worth it.

Now you need to go out and buy a copy of Coins of the Crusader States.
