I was working on my picture taking, so here is a 1891-CC Morgan that I picked up today.
The auctioneer/dealer graded it an XF.
    Do you agree ?
The main problem on this coin is the hit on the rim below the date.
Other than that, I think it is a decent coin.
Anyone know the VAM number ?
The mintmark appears to have doubling on the first C.

    *edit*
After checking under the microscope, the first C is not doubled.
It is just merely fatter than the second.
Is this normal on CC's ?

I guess you guys must think it's lower than XF then...LOL

Any opinions on the picture taking ?
    I think I did a little better.
I captured a little of the toning.

    I think so too.
There is wear on the hair above the ear and forehead, but the rim-dings really knock it down.
I just wanted to see if everyone agreed with my auctioneer/dealer's grading.

I may consider selling this coin.
    I'm not sure yet.

Nice Morgan Roto! I will leave the grading to the experts. The photos on the Obv and Rev do not seem natural as a result of the lighting. It seems like you need more/different light. The lighting seems to come from a standard lightbulb causing the coin to have a golden tone. This could just be my monitor? The mint mark looks good even a little blurry. While I can see the toning I would bet it would appear more purple than the photos show? You can see the detail really well I just don't think the photo's show the color of the coin quite right.

Looks like you did good at the auction - Congrats! I'll have to live vicariously through your recent buys :)...

Nice coin! I agree with the grading. I see the rim dings, but to me they are not that bad. The pictures look fine to me, but I find it hard to get the toning into the pictures. I have not figured that part out yet.

I would not agree, VF at best.

Thanks GDJMSP, I definatly trust your grading.
I think I missed the wear on the cap, wear on the hair near the neck, and I didn't take the multitude of nicks in to account.
On the reverse that divot below the arrows doesn't help any, either.
I guess there is just general wear on all the high points.
    Am I missing anything ?

Overall the coin shows wear just about everyplace. Were it not for the large dent on the rim, it probably would grade XF40. But because it is there, and so severe, VF at best. And I rather doubt it is slabbable.
