I love these bronze Seleucids! Post either your Seleucids or coins that you consider to be a part of your sub-collections.
Antiochus IV (175-164 BC) AE27 Isis/Eagle These are easily mistaken for Egyptian issues of the Ptolemies.

Nice coins DRay!! Love the presentation too (as always). Alas, I have nothing to post but I always enjoy gawking at the eye candy. -d
I was fortunate to acquire a coin from Arthur Houghton's collection. Antiochos IV, AE, 167-165/4 BC? Obv: Diademed and radiate head of Antiochus IV within border of dots. Rev: BASILEWS ANTIOXOY QEOY EPIFANOYS; Aegis bearing the head of Medusa. Houghton, Coins of the Seleucid Empire (1983), #103 (this coin) In the 2nd century AD Pausanias wrote “Antiochus [IV?] ... gave as offerings the golden aegis with the gorgon on it above the theater at Athens.” The aegis on this coin may represent the one Pausanias saw. Edward T. Newell dated the type to 167-165/4 BC, suggesting they coins were struck as keepsakes for visitors to games and festivals held then at Antioch. Arthur Houghton and Catherine Lorber call it “… an exceptional issue, produced in conjunction with the special issue of fractional silver denominations…”
Nice subcollection DR! It's been quite a while since I picked up a Seleucid AE. This Demetrios I was my first. Tried to take new pics recently and was kind of disappointed in the results.
Very nice presentation @Deacon Ray ... I only have a couple Seleukids: Seleucid Seleucus I 312-280 BCE AR Tet 14.46g Seleucia on Tigris. Zeus - Athena driving a quadriga of 4 horned elephants SC 130 Seleucid Seleucus I 312-280 BCE AE 20 Athena-Elephant Spaer 129
Love the posts guys!!! I have one 'bottle cap' bronze and three silver Tets. This is my absolute favorite---Anthiochos VIII: SELEUCID EMPIRE. Antiochos VIII Epiphanes (Grypos). 121/0-97/6 BC. AR Tetradrachm (29mm, 16.39 g, 1h). Antioch on the Orontes mint. 1st reign at Antioch, circa 121/0-113 BC. Diademed head right / Zeus Ouranios, draped, standing left, holding star and scepter; to outer left, IE above A; AI in exergue. SC 2298.1d; HGC 9, 1197 e. Good VF, minor double strike on reverse.
Hey guys! I have one too! I love it because it's serrated and I did not have one of those yet. And it's the oldest BC coin I have so far. I haven't done complete attribution so I don't know what the writing on the coin says but I do know that it is: Seleucid Empire, Antiochos IV, serrated bronze. Apollo's head on obverse. Apollo on the reverse, seated on omphalos, holding bow and arrow, 175-164 BC I'm using John Anthony's photographs.
Great sub-collection, DR... nice elephants, and there's something very special about that Antiochos IX! All 6 of my Seleukids:
There are several similar coins in the Bag o Romans that I haven't started on yet. @Deacon Ray and @LaCointessa both posted coins that will help me a ton. I honestly wouldn't have know where to start otherwise. These are among the most interesting coins in the bag, so it will be fun to attribute them. Still, they aren't anything close to the excellent examples posted here.
