I am far from knowledgable of varities of paper monies but I have two certificates, same year of issue but there are variations between the two such as signatures, markings etc; is this common? Could one of the certificates be counterfit? Thanks, Larry Brunner
Well Larry to start with we would need some images to determine the notes. Yes Signatures change every time the Treasuer or Sec of the Treasury change. That is common practice. When that does occur the Series will change from (example) 2003 to Series 2003A. So post some pics and lets look at those black eagles.. RickieB
Thanks for the reply so quickly. Unfortunately, the scans, for reasons of clairity, was created in Photoshop with the intent of giving one the ability to enlarge the scan, to note the detail. Each scan totaled >1.2mb. If you have the capability to receive this much information, I will be glad to send again. Yours Truly, Larry Brunner
Photobucket is free to use and you can post a link to your pictures here. That way you do not have to worry about resizing or losing clarity. Best Regards, Darryl
Hello I have included the attachments you requested of the two black eagle certificates. I hope they are clear enough for you to see the differences between them. Thanks Larry Brunner
Hello Larry, Thanks for the pictures! From what I can tell both look very authentic but I am in no way an expert. I do not have a book on large notes so I cannot tell you much about them. They are very nice looking examples of black eagle notes and I am a bit envious :thumb:. I'm sure RickieB, Clembo or others more knowledgable on these notes will be along shortly to tell you more. Posting more information like the date and names on the notes might help a little. Thanks for sharing and hope you enjoy those two beauties!!! Best Regards, Darryl
Larry... Thanks for posting some pics... First note looks like Vernon/Treat (cant quite make it out pics too small). The first one looks like a VG to F10 note and should bring ~ 30-40 USD if Speelman /White If Vernon/ Treat then it is a FR228 1899 USD ~ 80-100 The second note looks to me to be VF to VF 20 maybe a EF 10 and should bring about 50 USD Second note look's like Speelman/White sig's. Lots of folds and paper stress in the first pic... Nice notes... RickieB
The one in the top picture is the date below variety & the lower pictured one is a date right variety - The date below will be slightly more valuable. I think they are both in FINE condition.
Response to Responder Sir, Currently, I am assembling ALL the the notes as well as coins minted in the year 1899, in as good condition as I can afford. I am holding on to the entire collection. Thank You, Larry Brunner
