There have been many threads with "pigasus" coins. This one

has the marvelous collection of @TIF as of a year ago. (A lot has changed in a year, hasn't it @TIF? I hope your place and business will be able to recover from the hurricane.)

Well, I thought they were very neat and I like Greek fractions, so I tried for a few as fractions (they come larger, too) and eventually got my first in the recent Naumann auction:

    154392.jpg
The coin in hand looks much more metallic than this "dry" Naumann photo.

Ionia. Klazomenai. 1.09 grams. 10 mm.
    Forepart of winged boar right
four-part incuse square ("quadripartite" incuse square)
    SNG Turkey I 334-335 "5th C. B.C."

Nice! I think I need to get one of these just because of the word "Pigasus." (But I like Greek fractions too.)

TIF's enthusiasm for these at the time was quite infectious :D. There was a pretty decent didrachm in the Gorny & Mosch auction that just closed. I picked up my fraction a few years ago. The style is noticeably different from yours, and it's a fair bit heavier, but I have it attributed as a diobol as well.

    klazomenai400.jpg IONIA, Klazomenai
AR Diobol. 1.35g, 10.5mm. IONIA Klazomenai, circa 499-494 BC. SNG Kayhan 334–5; SNG von Aulock 1983. O: Forepart of winged boar right. R: Quadripartite incuse square.

These (and the more bizarre biga/quadriga-towing critter combinations) were first brought to my attention by @TIF. Fun stuff! The ones posted here so far are no exception. (I, alas, have none to add.)

I love the "Pigasus" moniker, too. Brilliant!

Would these 'pigasi' be considered a kind of cryptid? Regardless, they are utterly fantastic!

I admit, @TIF turned me on to Pigasus... AND! @Valentinian , yours is FANTASTIC! Like that one a lot. Even the "boring" photo is great.

Mine (yeah, TIF saw it, and did NOT have it in her entourage:

Ionia Klazomenai 480-400 BC AR Drachm Pentobol 3.5g 13mm Forepart winged boar r gorgoneion incuse sq Cf SNG Copenhagen 12 Rare

This was a double-whammy for me: GORGON and WINGED PIG?!?!! DONE!
