Hi new member here. I would like to know who or how I would get an mated pair authenticated. It's an 2011 Olympic, Washington quarter with an struck Lincoln cent mated obverse to obverse. The Lincoln memorial can be made out with a careful look or magnified. Sorry about the quality of the photo. I used the other two coins for comparison only. I don't know who to trust to look at it. I have been viewing this coin with everything from a magnifying glass to a Jewelers eye piece. Any help would be greately appreciated.

Looks like someone just sandwiched two coins together in a vice. That is not a mated pair. This is what a mated pair looks like.

Correct.. not a mated pair. Not a Mint Error

It's PMD - Post Mint Damage. Squeeze job or Vice job - 2 coins squeezed together with each one having the incused image of the other.

Thanks for the info, but there's no damage on either side of the coin. I will take into account your opinion as you surely have more knowledge and experience than I do. Now this gives me something more to consider. Again thanks for your replies as I still have a lot to learn.

What you have shown us is considered damage.

    Your welcome.
    Peace

It's hard to tell because your pics are blurred, but if there is an indent in the obverse, then it was pressed in a vice. If there is no indent, then it was glued. Based on your last post, I would guess you are seeing the glue residue.

Either way, this occurred after it left the mint and is not a mint error
