    Thanks @RomanTheRussian, and thanks for the attribution. I will look it up. My coin is about an XF45, I think.

    @Jimski - I would say 40 Obverse 45 Reverse. Would probably grade 45.

    1804 Draped Bust Half Cent, Spiked Chin variety.
    Die marriage Cohen-6, reverse die state Manley 3.0

    Reverse die cracks at 1:30 to 5:00, 6:00 to 8:00, and 10:00 to 11:30.

    DRAPED BUST HALF CENTS SPIKED CHIN 1804 1/2C

    The obverse die used previously for Cohen varieties 1 and 3 became damaged, presumably from heavy contact with some piece of machinery, and it continued to be used for four more die marriages with a jutting projection affectionately called by numismatists the Spiked Chin (C-5 through C-8). The most often seen of these is C-8, though C-6 is a favorite with die state collectors for the progressive failure of its reverse die.

    From: http://www.coinfacts.com/half_cents/1804_half_cents/1804_half_cent_c06_die_state_low_res.htm

    DIE STATES OF THE 1804 COHEN-6 HALF CENT by Bill Eckberg

    The 1804 C6 Half Cent has what is probably the most interesting die state progression of any United States coin. The die states listed here refer to different stages of the deterioration of the reverse die and are attributed according to Manley. Ronald P. Manley’s 1998 The Half Cent Die State Book 1793-1857 has supplanted the Cohen and Breen references for most specialists.

    The set {of images on this site, Jimski} contains most of the major die states of this variety. However, there are many intermediate states. {There are 12 major die states, Jimski}

    I don't usually like blast white coins, but this one glows - looks prooflike to me.

    Not much going for 1804, and it's been over a day. I had to dredge through the 7070 for this one to start 1803:

    Oh, boy- Mexico City was busy in 1803. There is the common 1803-FT, the rare 1803-TH, and the obscure 1803-FT/M. I'll post all 3 when i get home in a bit.
