Bill,I know that this coin commemorates the centenary of the establishment of British Columbia as a British colony,& that it is called a Totem Pole $1,but why is this coin regarded with negativity by the Native Canadians? Which Native Canadian Nation is it that builds totem poles? Is it the Haida?

The top element in the totem is a raven, used by some natives to symbolize death, causing them to be called by some "death dollars".

So that is why the 1958's are unpopular with the Native Canadians of British Columbia, but what Nation are they in B.C.?
