Quite a few of you got it. It's an NGC MS-65. It's in one of the holders that I am not a fan of for the grading. This one, I feel they graded correctly, but might get the grade bump today for the eye appeal. It's got some really nice luster and the color pops in the light pretty well. I also think it's a bit of a woodie as the toning in areas is a bit on the streaky side on both sides in the same direction giving it the improper alloy look.
@Paddy54 Reminds me of the great song recorded by the Platters (originally by "The Three Suns" 1944)... "When purple colored curtains mark the end of day, I'll hear you, my dear, at twilight time"
JTL, your excellent photography was being talked about yesterday at a coin show in Timonium, MD. You have followers here on the East coast! @Paddy54
@Paddy54 and I were commenting on some of your great picture posts and look forward to seeing more. Is this your profession?
Thank you. I'm working towards that. Right now it's a fun way to make some extra money to put towards coins.
What I know about coins, you could put on the head of a pin...and even less when it comes to photography. I'd kill for that 1899 IHC!! Good luck with your future endeavors! Jerry
Thanks Jerry. That Indian Head Cent is one of my favorite coins in my collection. I'm still wanting to send it to PCGS someday. I just wish I could send it to PCGS of 1988 and have it in a rattler. Or even better would be NGC of around the same time to have it in a NGC Black or 2.1 holder.
