    You know I appreciate it. I'm not in this to make money... yet. I just enjoy it. I get a lot of flak from other members. Most, like yourself, are very cool. Others not so much. Anyway thanks, I guess you enjoy this sport like I do.

    I think War Nickel refers to the years '42 - '45 where they used silver in the production of the nickels. The mint mark is on the reverse in the upper section of the coin. Someone else could help me out here, one of the years was split production. Some were clad and others were silver. Was that '42?

    42 is correct. Those with no mint mark up top are clad.

    nice find. the main part of collecting coins is having fun while doing it. I mainly collect certain world coins, but I used to hunt for silver dimes... I might start that up again. I enjoy the thrill of the hunt too.:jimlad::):cool::cat:

    It is not. War nickels were produced between 1942 and 1945. Some were regular nickels in 1942.

    ou can always tell a war nickel from one thatsnot becuase a war nickel will have an elarged mint mark on the reverse, and not all nickels in 1942 are war nickels.
