I am not to impressed. I have always searched using a method such as... coins ...quarters...seated... priced min of $50 to see all Seated quarters greater than $50. Now every time I try searching it seems like I am just going in circles with criteria to narrow down such as mintmark... Hopefully there are just bugs that haven't been worked out.
Hate it. Hate it. I do not want to see just certified Lincolns, or business strikes, or.... I want to see them all, and I want to see them fast. Too many cliks with the new system, I took the survey and let them know.
Definitely not my cup of tea. I want to search for Lincolns, not small cents 1880 - 1919. What good does that do me?
Up at the top on the right...You'll find it if you look. 5 minutes at best and your done. Goodnight gang, it's been too long a day.
Click coins and paper money.... Right after it says ( at top right ) You are testing ebays new search experience, it says, Give us your opinion.
At the bottom of the main coin page it will say you are testing our new crappy search feature (or something like that) If you click to "opt out" it will go back to the old search. I couldn't find the opinion area either. Mattman
My saved searches are the old Ebay, but new searches are the new Ebay. I opted out of the version, but it seems to only affect "My Ebay" page. I cannot stress how much I hate this change. I cannot look at categories. In the past I would look at for example Kennedy dollars. Now it seems you can only look at Kennedy dollars if "Kennedy" is in the title. Anything not including Kennedy is left out such as JFK or 1964 silver half unless you search separately for those key words. If Google wanted to enter the auction market, now is the time.
If it weren't for the "OPT OUT" option (which I just learned about) I wouldn't be doing much buying. And DEFINITELY no selling. Actually even with the "OPT OUT" option I probably won't be doing either anyway. Just because I got help in figuring it out doesn't mean others will get help also. I see a BIG dip coming in coin sales on eBay.
The new system is horrible. I agree there needs to be some changes, but what they have done is made it really tough to try and find items. I generally just log on once in a while to see what is ending in the next hour. That option seems to have disappeared in the new beta. As will I after 10 years on Ebay. I dont go on Ebay looking for a particular coin, I may do a search that includes a complete series of coins. Just not happy with it at all here. Try and find something simple, say a 1999s Silver Proof Penn quarter. I would like to see how long it takes others.
I do not really like the "new e-bay" in general. I am trying the e-bay beta and it seems to be a bigger hastle than the regular version. Maybe I just haven't given it enough of a chance, but I liked the old style better.
They can't leave well enough alone. There is always a hot shot techie meddling with everything. It is horrible. I will not be going there as much anymore.
If you click on Sneak Peak on the top of the home page there is a link for "let us know" Here is my message: Please do not change the drop down list to exclude “Ending Today”. For me this is the most used option for searches and it’s a pain to have to refine or go to saved searches every time I want to use it. IMO - The way the new categories show up is bad for coin collectors. You stripped away all of the US Coin categories that helped people recognize the different coin types and varieties. Before if I wanted to look at war nickels I just selected that type of category and then selected “Ending Today” so I did not have to scroll by all those featured auctions. I have opted out of this trial and hope and prey that it does not become permanent. I spent 13 years working for a software company - many of those as a Senior Product Manager for Software products. So I have some GUI design experience – trust me when I tell you coin collectors/dealers/investors will not be happy with these changes. I guess if you wanted feedback on design changes you picked a good way to go about it. Put together something that really doesn’t work for the intended audience and poof – you get feedback. Best Regards As it turns out there is not a specific select for war nickels just 38 to 69 under the old system. They will get the message though. BTW - I think the opt out only works during this test period, when it goes live I think everyone is stuck with it ...
The email address I used was sneakpeek@ebay.com. I hope everybody tells them "Mark does not like it, so do not make this change".
Just to reiterate-Go all the way to the bottom of the page & you can OPT OUT - of that version of the test.
