Gordianus Coin Help

    I will supply a weight and measurement if needed. The coin is bronze. Been checking wildwinds and yet to narrow it down. Thanks for the help you guys have been awesome!

    Because it's yellow is guess As too. Aren't As's yellow brass versus bronze?

    If I recall the as was copper and the dupondius orichalcum, like the sestertius. No dupondius appear to have been minted with this type.

    My guess is sestertius. Asses of the period tend to be more rounded over on the edge while sestertii are sharper and thicker. The flans were prepared in different ways. Asses are also more scarce so having one is a bonus. I do not have the Aeternitas in either.

    Also, the difference between yellow brass sestertii and dupondii and red copper asses is much more consistent in the first century. By the time of Gordian, the distinction is iffy.

    I appreciate all the help guys. So far the coolest coin from this lot is the Carthage. I'm pretty sure I have two. I'm gonna keep the one in better condition.
