Weekend of dirt fishing. Three Rosie's, a merc, and a half dime love charm. Also picked up a 1917 silver, Canadian 5 cent piece and assorted wheat and Indian cents. image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

This past weekend I decided to take a trip to a flea market I have never been to before. Found a few coin people, one of them told me about a coin show down the street. I ended up buying all of this just because it was cheap. Picked up one more love token for my collection as well. The large cent has a population of 1 which is always kinda neat.

Got back to my friends coin shop today image.jpeg image.jpeg and picked up my first Saint Gaudens double eagle! I'm tapped out now, my coin budget depleted and my wife is mad at me (lol)... But I didn't want to miss the opportunity and what I believe was a great price. Unless I can find it with my metal detector, I'll have to be a spectator for a while.

Still a gorgeous coin and I'm very happy to have it in my collection!!

HAHA, for 1896 in that condition I am curious if it has a mintmark.

Seriously, a coin like that needs a modified dip with eZest. Wash your hands. Place the coin in the sink so the water will hit it and run hot water over it 15 sec or so. Move the coin to where the obverse is pointed up and dispense eZest drop by drop until the obverse is covered. Move coin back to where the water stream can clean it off. Repeat as needed. Rinse thoroughly. Rinse with distilled water. Blot dry with soft towel.

Here's a recent purchase and NGC submission. Only the 10th example to ever be graded by NGC, and only two have a higher grade!

I picked this up this morning. Someone else also figured out it was a S-150 R5 variety. But the attribution points are stronger than on many high grade coins since it is an earlier die state than most. Holes only make it harder to sell to others, but affordable for me.

Gross grade and net grade opinions are welcome.
