I am collecting the Flavians and have one left; Domitian. Which style of Domitian coins should I get to represent his reign; his role as assistant during Vespasian, or his full fledged rule as emperor.
This poll is wrong for 2 reasons 1. It does not contain an option for both coins 2. There is no bacon option
This question will come up several times as you move on from the Flavians. There are several emperors who are many times easier to find as Caesar than as Augustus. Domitian is easier to find as Augustus. Relatively few 'one per person' collectors show much attention to what coin they get as long as they get a coin allowing them to cross off that person. My answer to this question is the same as my answer to all questions: Buy the coin that makes you happy. If you feel it important whether Domitian was Augustus or not, buy an Augustus. If you find a Caesar coin with an interesting reverse that makes you more interested in history or coins, go for it. Perhaps you will consider buying just one coin and saying it covers all three Flavians well enough that you can buy something else. It is all up to you.
LOL, just make sure it is none of that Canadian Bacon crap. It has got to be that thin, overly fried, super crispy American Bacon! Yum! Not that hammy tasting Canada stuff... yuck!
Personally, I like the coins during his reign. He changed his appearance from the time he was the youngest son or the little brother.
