1971d cent question...

    The image is of a reverse 1971d cent, the weight is 2.9 grams. My question is... why is it that the memorial building is wore down (compared to the rest of the reverse)? To me, they're no indications of filling down of the building... the inside of the columns look smoothed down also. 1971dreversefull.jpg

    I believe the Lincoln Memorial is the highest point on the reverse if that coin.

    That coin looks to have consistent wear on all the raised devices. There is actually more wear on and around "of" than on the Memorial.

    Thank you, for your comments. I would like to ask one last question. This is a picture of the obverse and reverse together (should have done to begin with). Why didn't they wear evenly on both sides? 1971dobvrevfull.jpg

    I could post a pic of one side of my car. Not bad rite. The other side. What the heck is with you're car dude. Lol.

    PMD. It looks like the Reverse was ground down early in it's life, then years of circulation toned it.
