I'm curious as to what the "Secret Might be" but also know that they have been known to say what ever suits their particular needs.

IMO, the ONLY reason to purchase this set is the SAE as this and the Congratulations Set were the ONLY sources for the coin.

Yes, the Silver Proof Set has the other coins in it but then, I and many others are not buying this set for those coins. We are buying it for the SAE.

Now, the the "Holders of the Secret" know for a "fact", an absolute fact, that this SAE will be offered in some other set, then that is a completely different story.

AND, one would want to know where they got this "Proprietary US Mint Information" from since it is NOT listed on the Product Schedule Page.

Could also be that the silver eagle has come down quite a bit on eBay.

It is only a guess, and I am sure some factors have been discussed already, but the American Liberty 225th Anniversary Silver Four-Medal Set coming out in 2 weeks is where a lot of people want to put their monthly budget. 4 Metals, 1 from each mint is more appealing than the S ASE, 5 Quarters, and a dime. All but the ASE come in the Silver Proof Set and the ASE was sold months ago. If a person has the budget, they will probably buy both sets.

^That was my plan. Was just hoping to sell one of these sets to help defray the cost of the Liberty set.

I bought one set. I will also get one medal set. (or two)
I still want the P mint from earlier this year, if/when the price drops enough.

@green18 I broke down and purchased one this morning. Just couldn't stand it. Needed me another one of those eagles.

ebay search was interesting - high markups ($180-200) mostly watchers, a few sold.

Will see in a few more weeks or months how they hold up.

I suppose that the big operators bought all the remaining sets and will get their friends in the third party certification business to class them all as 70's and sell them to the unsuspecting amateur collectors.

I bought one. I see that it is currently unavailable, but with this note:"We are currently out of this item, but more may be available later. Provide your email using the “REMIND ME” button and we will let you know when we are taking orders again."

Has anyone seen a similar "more may be available later" note on a coin or set that later actually became available?

It has happened on the 1/10 ounce Liberty Gold Dime last year. A few came available when people returned the ones they did not keep.

Since all of the coins have been offered either singly or in the annual silver proof set and I have already purchased these coins, this set would be duplicate items that I would not need.

That's not how grading works nor is someone an amateur because the collect graded coins and/or 70s.
