Hi guys trying to get some input on this. I've been doing a lot of coin roll hunting lately and I have come across several of the spitting horse errors. But this one seems to die cracks on both the obverse and the reverse. They are ridges and not scratches and can been seen easily with no aid to the eye, however photographing them was another matter. Input?
Die cracks on the State Quarters, and this particular Delaware are fairly common. The 'spiting horse' die crack might still carry a premium, but I'm not that familiar with that particular market. Nice find, and good study coin to examine to see what a die crack looks like.
Hi Fred thanks for the input. Yea I've found several of this particular Delaware coin 'Spitting horse', but none with this many cracks. Kind of just wondering if anyone else has come across any similar. Going to search through another couple hundred bucks worth today to see what I can come up with.
Thanks for the welcome. But I think I'll pass on your offer. I've got a dealer thats willing to send it off for grading with his coins for $30....LOL...JK. I'm sure you guys here get that stuff constantly someone thinking they've found the holy grail. I'm not so naive to think I'll be lucky enough to run across a MS68 anything coin roll hunting. I've been collecting on and off for some years, but i've had a little more time to search and hunt lately. So I have been finding more and more errors on these modern coins, probably just been overlooking them this whole time. Just thought I'd share.
I appreciate you informing him of the forum rules, he's new and didn't know any better. But I would also appreciate it if members who do know better, don't repeat the exact same offense by quoting it. That just makes it twice as bad.
Wait.. Yes I quoted it but I changed it into **** symbols. I can't prove it now but I swear I did! But I agree with your statement.
Try to watch on YouTube about quarters errors you will know more. Like me i came across the 1999 doubled die nickel which is a very sparkling coins not even looking old still looks brand new so I keep it since im collection coins since 1989 and i have lots of international coins because I traveled to some countries so I accumulating over time. Not knowing that my coins has value but if i get a chance across something interesting then i buy some coins
I watched that on YouTube last night about the 1990 Delaware spitting horse yes that has value so keep it or sell it so unfortunately my 1990 Delaware didn’t have that spitting horse. But i keep looking for some errors coins.
Welcome to CT @Susiedel, but please stay away from most of the YouTube videos as they are full of hype that has no truth or value.
I just bought a Delaware "spitting horse" quarter from a 30 year dealer in die varieties from the Collectorama Show in Lakeland, FL for $3.
