While searching Estate coins on eBay, I came across many items offered by this Seller (see link below) that appear a little fishy and want to ask everyone's opinion! Each of this Seller's (Estate Coin/Token) Auctions contains a few coins or tokens (2 to 3) plus at least one coin that appears to be an extremely rare Colonial America coin worth thousands. I may be wrong but some appear to be Restrikes, Reproductions or just plain Fakes (don't want to use the big "C" word here) and he or she adds at least one of these to spur interest in bidding on the lot. Now, in no way does this Seller state that any of the coins/tokens are real but why would he or she risk a 100% Feedback rating of 300 to sell off a bunch of real tokens or coins by adding in questionable items?

So lets here what you all think!!

    In the green print:

I'M LISTING THIS LOT AS A GROUP OF MODERN RECREATIONS (COPIES) DUE TO MY LACK OF INFORMATION / EXPERTISE ON THE SUBJECT OF COINS / TOKENS / MEDALS.

I think that says it all! "My lack of information/expertise" - my you know what.

    love it:
"UNKNOWN MIXED LOT OF UNIDENTIFIED COINS / TOKENS / MEDALS I CAN'T GUARANTEE THE AUTHENTICITY OF ANY OF THESE ITEMS, ALTHOUGH I WOULD ASSUME AT LEAST SOME ARE GENUINE"

Flipping bogus coins and tokens most likely. I sincerely hope you're not serious.

Does anyone realy trust "estate auctions" on ebay?

While out shopping I went to a garage sale and happened upon a roll of 1804 Bust Dollars. I'm no coin expert but feel some may be fake. I offer a 100% "you're a sucker for believing anything I say" guarantee (and that includes the guarantee).

Yes ..that was humor. Bad humor, granted but it was in jest.

I trust some estate sales. I trust the 3rd party sellers like "I sold it" type sellers. I've got some good deals with their listings. The guys with all the sad stories and large fonts ...no way. Every now and then I bid on an estate sale item for fun to see what I get and it never works out. It's fun to play but you have to realize that if it sounds to good to be true ...it most always is.

Thanks for the responses so far and any that will be forthcoming! The main reason that I posted this Thread was to make everyone aware of such Auctions that may look like a deal of a lifetime to some Bidder/Buyers. I think that this Seller has stumbled into a vaque area where there is no return. If you have a super Feedback rating and are honest in your dealings with any and all Buyers, then I think that you should never stoop to adding questionable items to boost the sales of lesser valued coins and or tokens. I also believe that this Seller has a good idea that the questionable items, are in fact fakes. Otherwise, this Seller would have sent in a small handfull of the coins or tokens for authentication. No one in their right mind, would sacrifice coins or tokens that may be worth thousands of dollars each just to boost the sales of a bunch of low valued coins and/or tokens. I am afraid that this Seller has fell into the same racket as many other Sellers of coins and tokens on eBay.

I seldom bid on anything that has "Estate" attached to it's Title as I have found from experience, that most Estate items are not Estate items at all. Also, I definitely do not bid on any auctions that have "Huge Estate" in the Title, show pictures and describe what you might get in the auction but what you are getting is a 1/4 or 1/2 pound of coins. Most of the time, anything you get is usually low grade and has been cleaned.
