Probably my worst cases of machine-rolled halves thus far.

    $2000 searched:

    1 - 1966
    1 - 1967
    2 - 1968
    1 - 2003 Proof

    $195 in Centennial halves

And I swear there was at least $1k in 2001 D coins.. I hope they aren't running low on halves and just dumping unc 2001 D's into the machine, I only need so many of those (1.)...

Shake it in a jar. It may take up to a minute, but it will come apart. (Note the jar has to be glass).

Here's a lovely find for a roll of half dollars. Cost me 50¢ too since there were only 19 other halves in the roll.

Any guesses on what it's from. My only guess is a meter tag of some sort.

The small town bank known for previous great finds only had one roll of halves. At least that's what she told me, but didn't make any moves to leave her window. Well that one roll was good enough; producing two 1995-D, one 1995-P, two 2002P, one [surprise] good 1987-D and one 1999-D. Denver minted half dollars are rare to find in rolls here.
I have not been searching rolls for a month or so. It seems every time I lay off and start up again is when the cash cows come home.
Got 5 more rolls from another bank. I'll post again if anything good turns up.

I thought about that, but every dog tag I've seen contains information like name / shots / etc...

Well the key word is OLD. The newer ones have all the info you said. But in earlier days the towns just had a number and a hole to tie through.

Thanks, it sucks being honest as I've lost track how many times I've paid 50¢ for crap like this. It is tempting though to see if the casino's would take it though.

Believe it or not there are folks who collect stuff like that. It looks like the date 1921 is stamped on it. That's an antique!

The problem with that is two fold.

    1. Every where I take my coin to uses a counter that would reject it.

    2. As I cash in so much coin, I've gained a certain level of trust with the tellers AND managers. I would not ever want to do anything that might damage that trust such as by getting caught trying to pass off anything that I know is not a valid US coin.

    HAHAAAAA!!!!

Went into a bank I've not visited yet. Asked for halves & asked for their Ikes or any big silvers. She said she had nine. I got 8 Ikes, and this lady... the ironic thing is, today is my birthday!!!

Found me a one cent blank planchet today (type II). It was circulated so that's a sign that people don't pay attention to their change (which may explain all the foreign coins I find while searching pennies).

Nice stuff, guys! I would especially like to find a blank planchet. That's one of the top things on my circulation want list. Nothing to report today, but I found a 1978 Bermuda cent in a roll of pennies. At first I thought it was some sort of token, because it has a pig on the back! That's my second favorite foreign coin roll find so far. Other than my numerous Canadian cents, I've also found a 2006 1 cent from The Bahamas (with starfish) and a 5 cent coin from Australia (with some sort of strange anteater creature). Interestingly enough, the Australian coin was also in a roll of cents. At first, when I saw the silvery edge, I thought I found a penny struck on a dime!

TheBigH, this is actually my second blank planchet, I already found a 50¢ blank planchet too.

I have a whole wishlist of items I would love to find from circulation, but the way I look at it,
if I just sit back and enjoy what I find, I won't be disappointed. If I get my heart set on finding one
specific item, then I won't enjoy searching at all.
