1985 d penny, zinc rot, error or misused? Worth more then a cent?

    Got to love digging thru change. Found a few I would like to post. But I'll start here..
    Tried my best to describe but a picture is worth a cent.. 2nd penny is for color comparison. Thanks in advance.

    Some one wore the rim down. rubbed it on sand paper or rough surface.

    Pre rot, but with the Zinc exposed, that's pretty likely.

    I concur. Around here those go in the melt bucket. You can make a kilo of coiner's bronze (10% zinc) by mixing 100 grams of cents (40 pennies) with 900 grams of scrap copper (wire clippings et.)
