I know this coin isn't much, but my curiosity still drives me to figure out what it is. I'm thinking Roman Imperial Provincial, but that's just a stab in the dark. It's about 23 millimeters wide. Thanks for any help or direction.
Obverse looks like a woman to me. Reverse is a seated or standing figure inside a laurel wreath. Looks Greek to me.
My first thought was an Apollo, wreath with club. Maybe Artemis? Do I see a quiver over the shoulder?
maybe this? Troas. Ilion circa 100-80 BC. Bronze Æ 17mm., 3,74g. Helmeted head of Athena right / ΙΛΙ, Athena Ilias standing right, wearing long garb, grain ear before; all within olive-wreath. very fine Bellinger, T. 35, T100.
These are the elements I'm seeing... Thoughtit was a shield leaning against a club initially, but can't find examples in my few minutes of searching.
I took another obverse picture and I tried to outline the figure I see. The head is almost into the leaves and it looks like there is a crooked arm at the side. I do not see the club type figure that Justin Lee sees at the left side. I know it's a tough coin and I thank everyone for their effort.
