ok I have a coin that i believe to be an error. now due to trying to show someone else what i was talking about, i stumbled upon something. I noticed something.....Now I have this said coin and what i call a multi strike coin and i have a hands down solid proof to how it is made....Now How when and where would i go to prove such a claim and not get screwed over for the rights of finding a new unseen error?

If you are able to replicate it outside of the mint, then it is not an error coin

Unseen error? This is a new news? Everybody here is blind. If you have any theory about an errorless coin, welcome.

What "rights" are you trying to claim? You own this amazingly rare error, get it authenticated and graded, and there you go. You will have the one and only valuable copy of it, unless other folks have found it too. Make sure to send your proof as to how it was made along to the TPG, so they know you're wanting them to confirm this as an error.

Just because it may be a Mint error doesn't necessarily mean that it would be worth the cost of submitting it to one of the grading services. So, I think your best bet would be to send it to one of the error experts for confirmation. These guys are just as reputable as the grading services. If they weren't, they would be out of business.

 This is an image of the "new" error I discovered with an explanation of how it was made:

Now that I posted it here for all to see and explained how this happened at the Mint, I'll take all the credit :cigar:. Thanks for looking. What do you think?

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

Do you somehow imagine that there is some kind of intellectual property rights associated with discovery of a "new" mint error? Because please let me disabuse you of such a notion - there isn't.

OP? You could search the rest of your natural days and not find a better error expert to show it to than our very own @Fred Weinberg. He is my "always to go" guy for errors.

Excellent! Good for you. I really hope you're onto something, but really, do you imagine after all these years that YOU have discovered something NOBODY else has seen? Do you have ANY idea how unlikely that is? Does ANY newb?

Please consider that the entire minting process is VERY well understood by serious numismatists, is not at all mysterious to us, and there literally is "nothing new under the Mint's ceiling".

News Flash: In order to authenticate a "true error" (one not made at the mint on purpose with a little help) the examiner must be able to describe how it was made. What that means is that 99.99% of anything you have has already been explained.

PS in the 1970's, "human-assisted" errors were not certified as genuine! :jawdrop:
