Let's do Germany or 1924, next. I can't remember if I've played this one before - probably - but if so, it's been a while.

So let's go with a 1924 USA dime that I found while metal detecting.

An Italian commemorative medal, though apparently struck in Argentina.

We can do 1911, Italy, OR Argentina next.

Excellent. I've always liked the design of the type you posted, even if the lion is "fenced in".

So I guess that's 1780 or Netherlands to the next player.

It's time for me to dash off to work.

 

How about 1780 or Russia next.

This coin is one of those big, chunky Russian 5-kopeck pieces I affectionately refer to as "whopper coppers". It was struck in 1780 at the Ekaterinburg mint during the reign of Catherine the Great.

 

1759 or Netherlands, to the next player.

I picked up this little beauty (a 1759 Holland 1/4 gulden) relatively cheaply, about six years ago. I ended up "flipping" it, as so often happens with my coins, but I enjoyed it for a little while. Never sent it off for grading. It would have been impressive with a PCGS TrueView image and I wonder how they would have graded it.

 

I was about to despair because I think I'm out of dated Netherlands coins that have been photographed.

But lo and behold, I have another 1759 in my current collection, and a fairly recent acquisition at that!

Just back from PCGS (@ XF40). This 1759 Spain half-escudo is the only one graded by PCGS, and after I bought it, I realized it is the key date for the type. Krause value is $500 and I had less than $200 in it before the slabbing, so I'm a happy camper on this one!






That makes it Spain or 1759 to the next player.
