hi everyone! haven't made a thread in a while, so i thought i am overdue. today in change a got a 1993 $10 bill. its in bad shape due to the strong center crease and the rip that ends right between the AT is states. the serial number is J18601196A, so is a kansas city note. well, bought some good buys at the flea market today, so i will post them in a few minutes. never see old school bills like this anymore, so i had to double look at it becuase it suprised me. after looking at all the old notes at the flea market, i thought it said 1953, so i almost fainted! then i figured it was a 1993. i'll put in on an auction site i know, and if nobody wants it, it will get stamped and entered into the wheresgeorge system so someone can find it, and tell me where its at. heck, it might make someones day finding it. well, just thought i'd make a new thread. have a nice evening everyone!
These bills seem rare to come by considering that they are always being replaced by newer bills and newer designs. Would something like this be worth hanging on to?
The question is, do you think it's worth keeping? I keep all the old bills, but they just don't interest some.
It is theorized that so many dealers stocked newer currency (pre-1996 included) in UNC condition that it will be many decades before the circulated ones will even fetch a premium. But, here's another way of looking at it. Everyone needs an emergency fund. Putting together Star notes and pre-1996 notes for your emergency fund will create a mental aversion to spending that money. Hence it would have to be a true emergency before you dip into it (as opposed to something like a late night beer run).
