As you can see, there are some marks on the coin (and the holder) but much better than most 64s and 65 CACs IMG_6846.JPG IMG_6843.JPG IMG_6845.JPG IMG_6842.JPG

The coin does not need a CAC. It's a pretty coin but not worth the time unless you have a large group to submit all at once.

I believe you'll find your answer through this "link": http://www.caccoin.com/how-to-submit/

I believe you are currently correct that you'd need to submit through a dealer, as probably to be found in the "link" aforementioned.

I'm an avid "collector" with a large collection of CAC coins, who has submission capability. It has been my general experience that in this type coin only Gem grade PL/better, or lesser grade as variations as: 1880/9-S seem to get the "bean".

Others may have differing experience, as I've also found with plus graded coins.

So you dont think it will get a CAC? My dad and I really just want to try it, I am a young numismatist and my dad said he'd pay half of the cost so for me to pay like $6.25 its worth a shot.

Been there, done that. If it's fun go for it. Just keep in mind that it won't add value to this coin.

From now on, for my personal collection I am pretty much sticking with CAC coins because they are so easy for me to resell. I don't mind the premium because I know for sure I will get it back when I sell it, if I sell at all. I really don't sell my personal coins

As a young numismatist I would encourage you to submit your coin to CAC. However, having said that, it would make better economic sense to send a few others in as well. While $13.50 is not a bad price, the shipping alone will be around 3 times that. CAC sends everything back to you via Registered Mail. So adding additional coins to your submission will help distribute the shipping cost across multiple coins.

Something else to keep in mind, if you submit through a dealer, you will be charged $13.50 no matter if the coin passes or not. If you send it in through a collector member, then you are only charged if the coin passes.

I have a collector membership as do others on this forum. I have found CAC to be invaluable to me as a method of developing my eye for nice coins. While I don't have the budget to dabble in the higher priced coins that some do, I still feel that the education I am getting in the lower priced coins will help me down the road. In fact I just submitted 3 coins on mine and all 3 passed with one going gold. :)

I cannot say for sure if the coin that you showed in the images above will get a gold bean or even a green bean, I won't discourage you from submitting it, because I think the education you could get from it might be invaluable.

If your second image is a true representation of your coin, then I don't think it will CAC. Take a good look at her hair. Do you really think it compares equally to the thousands and thousands that have a better strike? I've owned plenty of '81-S Morgans that were MS65-MS67, and I just don't think your coin rates the beanie.

But if it golds it's golden... Chances are extremely slim however.

Seeing as it's only one coin you are interested in sending (for now) it might be better sense to send it via a dealer you trust. It may not make economical sense, but as an educational experience it could be very worthwhile.

I've never sent anything to CAC (seeing as 95% of my stuff is non-US, and half of my 'better' US sits in a 7070--thought the guy who sold me a pcgs/cac coin was about to choke when I told him I was cracking it for my album, but I digress). On the other hand I can and have sent many a thing in for TPG just to see 'how I stand' with grading. I'm sure there has been many a grader scratching their head wondering why somebody sent in glorified pocket change for grading :D.

Going by your photos, it does look rather lovely. As an educational exercise for a fairly low price, go ahead and send it in. If it doesn't gold bean (or if you aren't satisfied with a green bean assuming it gets that one) perhaps it would be worth a resubmit someday just to see.

Yeah, it magically morphs from an extremely common $75 coin to an extremely common $115 coin. :p

The color is what establishes the value of this coin, not the difference between 64 and 65 or anything CAC could do for the perceived grade.
