I have a 1963 Lincoln cent that looks almost new. Its very shiny, has minimal circulation marks and it's just awesome ! Does anyone know why this penny is this color and looks shiny and new ? I appreciate any advise or answers to this, thanks. Btw, the actual color has a lot of a reddish color to it.

That is an attractive coin. All cents, when new, have color like that, however air tends to make them turn brown over time. If you wish to keep the cent like that, you need to put it in some kind of coin holder.

A pink color on copper is a good indication that it has been chemically cleaned. Note how "scruffy" the surface is, That's because it is actually not "new."

Thanks for the answers. Actually, the coin isnt that scruffy, I think a lot of it has to do with the lighting because I have never in life found anything harder than taking photos of coins.

Take a look at Lincoln's coat. The change of color on the high spots is the "scruffy" friction I wrote about. It is enough to make me personally grade it AU.
