Almost certainly a fake, but I thought it was neat anyway. Paid $1 for it at a local auction. Overall it looks like a Canadian 5 Cent struck on a 1 Cent blank, but if you look closely you can see a mirrored imprint of a 1967 Canadian cent underneath the 5 cent relief AND you can see part of the profile of Queen Elizabeth in the body of the beaver. http://www.leagueofnations.net/cpimg/3in1-b.jpg The reverse is not nearly as exciting, and just shows a faint image of a 1979 Cent. http://www.leagueofnations.net/cpimg/3in1-a.jpg
More like it looks like a hammered job, i.e. someone took a 5 cent on top of that coin and kept whacking it till it left an imprint.
Wouldn't it be incuse if it were a hammer job? (I too doubt its authenticity, I just think theres a different explanation)
Yes, but then you take the incused coin and hammer or squeeze that one resulting in a proper relief. Definitely a squeeze job.
