I don't know how honest the makers of Liberty Dollars are in terms of practicing what they preach, but what I really mean is that I would like to see a shift back to money with intrinsic value. And, I do thing they make very attractive coins/rounds. Certainly nicer looking than what the U.S. Mint is pumping out now. I would like a few examples of the Liberty Dollar for the aesthetic reasons, mostly.
I should have known this would happen before I posted it, but it honestly never crossed my mind that the thread would create controversy [Can I get more naive than that?]. I just thought it was a pretty unique and decent looking silver round.
I think the round is worth $20. The melt value is $14 (if it is an ounce, I didnt check) and I, too, collect rounds that are unique. I have several 1 oz. rounds such as a Santa Clause, Bill of Rights, Moon Landing, and a out 10 others. Most of these are found on ebay with a search. I also think that they all go for about $16-$20 or so and the price of silver is going up, making the rounds go up as well. Besides, that fiat $20 paper bill is losing value every day while the round isn't.
I have several Christmas rounds that we hang on the tree every year. Places like jpscorner.com sell red ring airtites with a small loop at the top to enable you to hang them. They are very unique.
As this thread has not engendered a mass political free for all, it escapes me as to why you would threaten pulling this thread. hmmmmmmm
You must take this discussion of religious tokens to a forum someplace else. Don`t discuss the holiday. Maybe you can draw cartoon pictures that aren`t too specific. Pine Trees with little round things kind of hanging from the branches, etc...
Some of that kind of stuff has already been taken out of the thread.....and at least I know I feel it is better to remind people of the rules once in awhile because in most cases one post such as that can save the Mod's a lot of problems down the road! Speedy
Is it not obvious ? My comment was made when there were only 4 posts in the thread. Your comment was made when there were 3 pages of posts. It was a heads up and reminder in the beginning of the thread to follow the rules - nothing more.
In a word, yes, it is obvious. In hindsight I probably shouldn't have posted the scan of the round, but I liked it. It isn't wise to fly too close to the sun, but I forgot that advice.
You like pushing buttons, don't you? I rest my case. And what point exactly are you trying to make? Phoenix
Cloud you did nothing wrong - not at all. But in my years here I have seen perfectly innocent & harmless posts just like yours degenerate into shouting matches and flame wars just because some people cannot resist the urge to voice their political opinions. So I have found it best to "head 'em off at the pass" as it were
