US cent?

    Hello everyone! Picked up this coin at a yard sale. I'm unable to identify if it's a real cent coin or a novelty coin. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    It's not a Cent.
    It's a nickel and is dated 1912 (I think).
    The "V" on the reverse is the Roman numeral for "5".

    Looks like a 1912 v nickel.

    That's why the line was slanted. Lol. Is it pretty common?

    It is a butchered Liberty nickel, commonly referred to as the V nickel.

    Almost looks like someone was trying to make a 1913 V nic. One of the highest priced of all US coins.
