Does this coin look odd or is it just me.

I've been looking to buy a 1798 or 1799 and when in doubt I run it pass you guys first. Thank you for always being there.

yes, this coin looks suspect to me. I would have an expert examine it in hand. The date looks wrong, and the bust looks wrong, and that's just at first glance.

 

Yeah, looks like a Chinese fake.

looks like a bad fake..All the examples I've seen online have a serif on the left part of the 7. And those nines...ugh

 

The date, bust and the hair details all look counterfit to me. I would pass on that coin

The devices look worn yet the rims date and lettering look almost pristine. Not right.
