Ask how much they are selling them for or how much over spot they are selling them for and compare it to other places.

My local dealer sells them at 35¢ above spot. :D (Cheaper than many of the internet sites and NO SHIPPING fees :D :D)

At the last coin show I was at, the cheapest we could find a 1 oz bar at was $14 which was the same price as a SAE so we too the SAE. Stores will generally sell SAE for $17 which I would not pay. As for a 1oz bar, if you could get it for $14.25 at a store that would be probably be the cheapest you're going to find. apmex.com is one of the cheapest online stores and they sell them for 60 cents over spot in 1oz bars. Coin shows will be the cheapest places, but if you want to go to a store, try to get one for $14.25. If not, then you pay the extra quarter. If you are considering buying a 100 oz bar though, I would recommend waiting a couple months for a drop back into the 12s-13s per ounce.

This place is not too far from you (Torrance). I don't have an opinion on their goods having never used them, but call and see if you can stop by and check out their bars.

I felt I was getting ripped off after I bought some 10oz bars from LCS's and then did research on pricing. The best I could get was $2 over spot. Went online and found pricing between $0.49 and $0.89 over spot. If you are not comfortable ordering online make a small purchase and see how it goes. Get your feet wet, then when you realize you can get free shipping and save hundreds of dollars or more then you realize you did the right thing.
