Well I knew that AliExpress sold counterfeit coins, some stamped with copy, and others not. Today I saw a 1856 Flying Eagle Cent in a PCGS Slab for 90 dollars. Too good to be true, right? Yep, the slab looked iffy and there isn't a PCGS number for this coin. Eventually someone is going to buy it and ty to claim that it is genuine. It makes me so mad that junk sites like these can continue to sell these fake coins in fake holders! They're one of the reasons why there are so many counterfeits floating around. Guess it's just the world we live in... https://www.aliexpress.com/item/HOT...28376403.html?spm=2114.search0304.4.41.XGPp11
Welcome to the 21st century. It's not just coins. Just about any luxury brand and really anything of value you can think of is counterfeited and sold on the site
I guess sooner or later, they will pre-tone them before slabbing. It would be hard to represent it as a Cu-Ni cent with that coloration. Also I think the jumbled pixels covering over the PCGS and the holo on the back might be missing on delivery.
Many parts of the world it's easier to find fakes than the real thing. They've been doing those for years. About the only thing someone could really do would be to try and get them de-listed from the stock exchanges but that is likely a losing battle
Not in the image, but how difficult do you think it would be for them to have a valid number on the ones they deliver? I'm sure they would like to know, but there really isn't anything they can do about it. And it is really unlikely since they GOT listed on the stock exchange back while everyone was complaining about them selling counterfeit goods (not just coins). No one cared, all they wanted to do was make money from their stock.
I believe that is what is behind the blurred out portions of the photos. The same seller has a lot of other fakes for sale - fake gold-plated bars (made from non-magnetic metal) and fake gold and silver coins, as well as faked & slabbed coins...
Some interesting ones, for sure... You've got your "antiqued" that looks like it lost a battle with a grinding wheel... https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hot...lgo_pvid=4621ef05-a2a1-46d9-bc91-53afca299949 I'm not even sure what coin this is supposed to be a copy of: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/187...lgo_pvid=f7170a48-2694-47ea-aef4-37cb89bc8b2f
I've seen Chinese vendors that advertise that if you send them a coin/slab that they would reproduce it. I'm curious how many people are sending them stuff to reproduce, and what they are doing with their own reproductions.
