My coins were ordered 1:20 hours after they went on sale and the order says in stock and reserved, but still has the cancel feature in addition the orders says "Order in Process" Just received a letter in the mail (not an email) that states the coins are sold out and I am on a waiting list. Anyone else receive this?
My coins arrived last night at the post office. Parcel Post (Booo!)... Registered mail. =P Just picked them up! =] They look spectacular. The proof rattles a little bit.. hmm
IS anyone else shocked by the EBAY prices for these Jefferson first spouse coins? I was expecting $700 to $800 right of the bat, but so far it looks like the sellers on ebay are breaking even or maybe making $20 or $30 after fees. I'm sure 3 or 4 years from now these will be double or triples, but I expected large premiums right off the bat.
Vroomer, if you don't mind me asking could you please check your registered mail tracking number and post how long it took for your order to get from the day it was shippied to the day you received it??? I've already received my first order a few weeks ago, but my brother's order was shipped just yesterday and I was wondering how longi it could take because I understand registered mail is longer than Priority. thanks
OK - why did you expect premiums ? I'm not surprised in the least. In fact, I expect prices and popularity to go downhill from here. These early releases will likely end up being the cheapest of the entire series. It's the coins that are released 2, 3 or 4 years from now that will likely be the winners in the end. But even that won't happen for 10 - 15 years. They will be the coins with the lowest mintage numbers because no one will buy them. It will be just like all of the other gold collector coins the mint has produced in years past. Typically, they sell very few. This whole thing was caused by speculators and hype. It never fails to happen that way.
I cant get this. The Uncirculateds are still avaialble from the mint, but sell at a premium on ebay. I guess it all wait-listed. Is there a consensus at what time these sold out? How about the MW or AAs, who made the cut on those?
Hard to say what time it sold out because many people canceled their orders, I got the coins after the mint announced the proof was sold out. I agree with GDJMSP the early spouse coins will be bad investment. There is no way the coins will sell for more than $500 in 2 or 3 years unless gold price stay high. The proof do look very nice though.
