The T and Y are almost touching where variety vistas marker is, can it be assumed, that since the double date all have split 9's that would be an indicator? Wexler references a diagonal scratch, but his is an MS grade coin. 17rty.jpg 17cc.jpg

I think Chris is correct. The '7' doesn't show the strong doubling at the bottom like the real one does. Also the RUS in Trust is very distinctly doubled in the true error.

It actually looks like one on eBay the other night. I check all of the listed uncertified ones and there was only 1 true as described out of about 16, but it was damaged. I loved the 26,000 graded one, but way out of my ballpark. I think it is the most commonly mislabeled or misrepresented major error on eBay % wise. One guy had 7 different ones listed all not. IMO

    A VG example.

    An AG example

The AG example is tough, but TRUST holds up on the most worn coins. Check the RUS to be sure, but it doesn't look like it to me either.

I was lucky enough to pick the VG off eBay for $0.99 & free shipping. The AG I found in an old bag.

In defense of my 7, you can see the base and 3/4 is lopped off by pmd. Here is the RUS; I not sure as to what to compare it to in the above example? 17fua1.jpg 17fua.jpg

Sorry Nolan. I should have added the image of the better example too. The image of the poor example is not great anyway. I was still using a USB scope back then. I don't see the doubling in your image of TRUST. Here is the better circulated.

Thanks for the follow up. The seven in this date was dismissed because it lacked strong doubling on its base, in fact, most of it is missing. I have several rolls of 19-teen wheat, five '17 and none of them have the "V" notch in the 9, is this a product of die wear or normal? Here is a close up of the "S", some doubling in there on the inside top loop? Your call. One of the other Lincoln specialty sites says, because the coin is a century old, doubling might not be visible in the lower grades. So, if you can tell me about the "V" notch, I would appreciate it. The coin came from a bank box, not eBay.
