Requesting positive feedback on non-attributed 1893-S mid grade. Let me know, since not every coin is not 3rd party authenticated.
Something doesn't look right to me, but I'll let people with more knowledge offer their opinions. Uncertified 1893-S sends up a red flag to me.
I don't like what is going on with and around the 2nd A in america on the reverse , pics are not real clear, but wish you the best with it..
Negative feedback incoming. The real 1893-S Morgans were struck with only one obverse die. On the real die, the "1" in the date is positioned right over the denticle. On your coin, the 1 is not over the denticle, it is over the space between denticles. That is the first place you should look on a 93-S. It fails that test, which gives it dead away that it's a fake. Not to mention everything else on the coin that looks wrong. I'm really sorry. I hope you didn't buy it (especially not for genuine prices).
Absolutely zero chance of it being real. Omegaraptor offered the most obvious clue, which is in Morgan terms described as a "Far Date." All 1893-S examples have this date location, and the coin here does not. It has many of the other details of a typical fake, and a reasonably learned Morgan person wouldn't need the date location to be sure it's counterfeit.
There are two problems with this coin. First, it is a fake as others have said. Second, you're not supposed to use the open forums for solicitation. Chris
I opened this thread and while no expert on Morgans, the first thing I saw was your coin and that eagle started screaming at me-FAKE. It just doesn't look right to me but then again, I'm just agreeing with the other members that responded. The only positive feedback I can give you is, it's not real.
Perhaps this reason, (authenticity) is the most important reason for TPGS. After all, if the coin isn't authentic, the grade, etc... is irrelevant.
