Just generally curious what causes this on what I assume is a cast made replica? If you are going to make a replica you would think make it look nice. Laziness.
It very well may depend on the reason for producing it, and/or the time in which it was made. A replica made for familiar collectors would likely need to "look nice", but not one made as a cheap novelty marketed towards neophytes, often as souvenirs.
