    Hi,

Today I bought this coin for $10 because I saw that it was from 1761 and looked nice. It's now the oldest coin in my collection! Upon researching more about it, I figured out that the 2x2 was marked wrong, as it said "2 stuivers" when it is in reality 1 duit. It weighs 2.8 grams. I am having a bit of trouble finding what metal it's made out of and how much it's supposed to weigh, as apparently both copper and silver duits were made. If anyone has any more information, it would be greatly appreciated!

    Netherlands/Holland KM#80a, Duit, Metal-silver, mintage- ?
grade/value from my 2002 World Coin catalog...value could be higher...
    VG-$20.00 F-$30.00 VF-$40.00 XF-$60 UNC-?
not sure what your coins grade is VF-XF ?
    coin early dated coin.
after looking on Ebay I see some of these duits in off metal silver for much higher values. Check out Ebay and compare your coins grade to others there.
I think I would value yours at $80-100 if it is in silver, if copper value $60+
guessing here. wait for more experienced opinions...

Thank you for looking it up in your catalog! To me, it looks more like some kind of silver, perhaps toned as the previous poster suggested. It doesn't look like copper at all to my eyes. I'm not sure, though, of course. It's interesting that these appear to have been struck in different metals.

Numismat. is correct it is KM#80a, and your coin is silver. I would guess your coin is worth $90-160

I agree with what most of the people above said. You made a good score, that coin is at least XF45 and silver. I collect stuff like this and have several hundred of them. Yours is better than any of mine! Here is a copper duit I have which is similar. 1780 H 1 d obv.JPG 1780 H 1 d rev.JPG
