Looks like the Canadian federal government is just using the Canadian Mint to get back at the City of Toronto for demanding money from the federal government...

...pretty stupid if you ask me.

Good thing I live just outside of the city limits. :D Won't be my municipal government stuck with the bill!

I agree it's stupid, but I've heard a lot of things as stupid. (You must realize there's a presidential campaign going on down here!)

Don't you have a court system that can stop the mint?
I can't believe their actions would be tolerated in the US.

Just how many web sites does this guy plaster the same thing on? Same thing appears all over the coin forums. Try something original, PLEASE.

Carl, why are making this personal attack against me? I have never seen you comment on anyone else who has posted the same thing on more than one forum, yet you single me out. I posted to different forums because I know that not all people visit the same forums as you and I, and I didn't want to single out one forum over another with favouritism.

I don't know what I've ever done to you, but I apologize for whatever it was, and ask that you point it out to me, so I don't do it again. I've got nothing against you, and I've even curbed my use of the term "penny" when I really mean "cent", as I found your argument very convincing, and in fact, it was something I never even tough of until you brought it up.

I also apologize to anyone else who takes offense to me posting the same item at more than one forum. Apparently, Carl feels that I shouldn't do this. And I apologize that this has come out in a public forum, as I would have rather had a PM from Carl pointing out his issues with my post. If my knowledge isn't up to your standards, then please, help educate me. I'd prefer it not to be in the form of a personal attack, though.

Welcome to the U.S. - I mean Canada

No offense to any Canadians intended. After all we do share the longest "unguarded border" in the world and I've always thought that was something to be proud of on both sides.

Now, as for this story, it's so damn ludicrous one would swear it happened in the U.S. We always do stupid stuff like this it seems - but Canada? OH CANADA - what happened? Too much exposure to U.S. news?

What's next? A lawsuit over use of the Maple Leaf? Wow, Toronto hockey would be sued for millions with their long history!

    Just pathetic.

That's not exactly what I would call a personal attack Topher, a complaint yes, but not an attack.

And no I'm not taking sides. I've done the same thing as you - posted the same thing to multiple sites many times. And if somebody complains about it, well I pretty much just ignore it. I don't take it personal.

Nobody would last very long on internet forums if they took other posts personal.
