JUST found out my Daughter's Tiny House SURVIVED! And they had small damage at her Aunt's home where they sheltered north of Tampa.

    VERY MUCH RELIEVED !!!

Everyone seems to be ok and that is the main thing. Houses can be fixed.

It sounds like Florida got off far easier than where @TIF lives. I am interested in updates from @TIF.

    Awesome! Glad u made it!

Sounds like some areas could be without power for a long time, maybe Edward is in one of those areas.

    TIF Always learning.

Extreme damage. Hospital incapacitated; patients evacuated by military helicopters. St. John and Tortola decimated. Extensive damage to power lines. Most areas are without cell coverage (including my home, which is still standing but without power, water, phone and will likely be without power for as long as a year). Many people I know lost everything. Curfew was just lifted but only between noon and six, although I have a curfew pass. I'm trying to work and take care of cleaning up the waterlogged stuff in my condo. Not sure of the number of deaths but fewer than I thought there would be given the destruction.

My coins are safe. I've lost some stuff but hopefully will get the condo cleaned out before mold wrecks the cabinetry. Sure do wish I had a generator... stupid stupid stupid for spending money on remodeling the bedroom instead of a generator.

I'm staying at the office for now but will have to move back home at some point. It is 95 degrees and high humidity. Not good.

Sorry to hear of your troubles @TIF. Sounds like what I expected here, but got off without much of anything happening. I know I'm not there, but if there is something I can do from here to help, just ask. Hoping and praying for the best.

My heart -- and prayers -- go out to everyone who is affected and suffering. I have two lady cousins who bracket me in age -- one is 87 and the other is 89 -- both live in Ormand Beach on the east coast of Florida, and both are in poor health. I have not heard from them for several days and I haven't been able to contact them. I am increasingly worried.

A story by Kevin Loria in Business Insider shows the damage done to the island of St. Thomas and mentions the crippled hospital and the citizens walking around with machetes for protection.

The satellite view comparing the lush, pre-Irma greenery to the brown and denuded state is particularly shocking.

Yes. The islands got a lot of press since they let International Press on a tour yesterday. That and celebrities like Kenny Chesney are doing their part to make sure those US citizens don't get forgotten in the Harvey-Houston and Irma-FLA disaster.

@TIF , I feel sick thinking about the hardships and the dismal conditions that you’re experiencing. I'm trying to think of a way to turn prayers into action to help you. We need to tell as many people as we can about what conditions are like on your islands.
