I was selling at the market yesterday when another seller called me over to look at three coins a man brought to show him. He asked my opinion about them so I asked if I could look at them closer and take some photos of them. He asked the seller he brought them to what he thought about them. He kept looking at them with his glass and saying "They all look good to me" He then asked my opinion. Instead of making the other dealer look bad by saying I felt they were all fakes I just simply said "These are the kind of coins I wouldn't buy unless they were in a reputable slab and graded" scmedic
I, for one, think you did the right thing. I don't know how that other "coin person" could not identify the copper/brass showing through on the Morgan. Last time I checked, that shouldn't be showing that coppery color. The 1807 dollar, it appears to have the tell tale bubbles and such in the denticles that identify it as a cast copy. I don't know enough about the first coin posted, but the face sure looks weird. But, that may be how the actual coin looks, so I'll reserve judgement on that one.
I don't believe denominations appeared on the reverse till the capped bust series. Nevermind, I see they did. My bad. But not on the dime.
