Hey Al..........this isn't a coin oriented thread. You'd see lots of images over on the modern side, if you care to take look. As for your pot shot at my humor, humor is subjective, just like grading in coins. Man, you came out of left field on that comment........
I'm not an ancient collector, but I do enjoy history and ancient history at that. If you guys don't want me posting on the dark side, just say the word. I'll disappear.
Despite I'm fresh on this group, I've been following all of you by the threads for a long long time. One month ago, I decided to join at CT, and I can say (or better, write it) that I'm always learning something everyday. So, nothing more fair enough to become a supporter (I really didn't believe it that would be possible, since I'm living outside the United States), and of course thank you all. I was very welcomed by all. Thanks again! And of course, my apologies if my English don't work out very well. It's not my first language.
I usually HATE web forums and helped create a political group that runs one. Dealing with the opposition, political gamesmanship and the double talking used by politicians is far easier than administering the web forum. If it was 100% up to me the forum would be shut down. Between the misinformation people disseminate, the rude and snarky behavior, it's more trouble than it's worth. Especially when people decide as the owners we have no right to decide what can, and cannot, be said/posted. Early on, I thought CT was just like the others because of a typical web forum incident. I made a comment that was immediately sniped by someone. Instead of taking the bait, I begged off the argument, and three of his buddies jumped in and wouldn't let it go. When I made the mistake of getting a little mad, they tried to make me out to be the aggressor. A quick search of the user names showed me the same group does it all the time...and normally to newish users. I had all but given up when I stumbled across the Ancient forum and @Deacon Ray @Bing @Orfew @Sallent @TIF and many others changed my mind. I feel bad naming names because I probably accidentally left someone out. Yes, I sound like a suck-up, and have here in the past. But, what evolved here at the Ancient Forum on CT is a rare bird. Well informed, helpful, non-judgmental communities that welcome "stupid newbie questions" and turns those same "stupid newbies" into productive members of the group are stunningly hard to find. The incite they've offered can't be learned in a book, or even in a coin collecting class. So, jumping in as a supporter was well worth it.
This forum is how the Internet should be, lets all work to keep it that way. The world coin forum here is also very friendly and civilized.
Great to have you as a member and supporter of this forum, Gerard! I was amazed at the civility of our forum members when I first signed up. It’s a great group! It’s interesting to see the various areas of knowledge and specialization of the individual members. My approach to collecting has definitely been influenced by the positive reenforcement that I have experienced here.
Hi @Okidoki Go to the very top of the page where your avatar is- Then above that is a white search bar Go above that to a blue bar with three alternatives in it Click on the one that says your name and a drop down list appears in that list on the right side column look for account upgrades click on that and you will see various alternatives choose the one you prefer I guess I selected 'sponsor' to become a supporter for one year. I think that is it... but it may be that I am only seeing "sponsor" as a possible upgrade option because I am already a supporter. I am thinking that perhaps you will see an additional alternative of "supporter" since you have not upgraded at all yet. I will be interested to know what you see as alternatives. Good luck! Also, after becoming a supporter I think you only see that status on your avatar after you have published a post on a thread.
Yes, thanks for posting this, I'm sure there were others like me who hadn't appreciated how to go about supporting.
It's that time of the year when I get a message from the Gods here saying my supporter status expires. I renewed it immediately and happilly, since it's 29 buck very well spent ! Q
Supporter here as well. With all the enjoyment, knowledge and sense of community here at CT, becoming a supporter was easy for me. It costs less than the numismatic magazines I subscribe to and I frankly get much more out of CT. I'm on the site daily and I like to see the things I like succeed!
