I have to say that's a pretty cool coin. Congrats on the acquisition. Physicists collect coins? I didn't know that.
I have one too, but I don't have a picture handy (I'll have to take one). I've also seen this referred to as a "helmet denier." The design is awesome and the series has a number of interesting varieties with little things hiding in the letters. And what about that funky font? Someone should digitize that for word processing.
I believe most of the font characteristics can be attributed to the use of punches used in making the dies. Some wee aligned better than others. Of course the thin flans make each coin weak in a different pattern as well.
I have heard of enough physicists and astronomers (a type of physicist) collecting that, of all professions, they are way on up there in the fraction who collect. (The fraction is very small, but relatively high.) Would anyone care to suggest a profession with a relatively high fraction of people collecting?
Professors. I have many friends who collect one thing or another. Also, many older collections seem to be "Collection of a scholar" or "Collection of Professor _______".
cool coin! One of these has been on my list for years, the style is very interesting. It is kind of like "grumy cat" isn't it?
I agree with Grumpy Cat.........no soup for anyone. Except......maybe.......that Irish fellow is looking rather fetching to my wife........time to close the gates.
I mean, like really........she's ready to leave me. Just kidding. She's asleep. Close call though. I do believe she might have.......oh kripes, forget about it.
Here is my Bohemund Denier - photographed through an Air-tite using a Plugable Digital Microscope, which I believe someone on this forum turned me onto. I'm pretty happy with it, though I still have some lighting work to do, I think.
