My wife started to panic a bit yesterday - she wanted to get in the car and drive away north 'somewhere'. I convinced her that it is better to sit it out - no point getting stuck in traffic, specially since we have no fixed place to go, no relatives here, at least not within 2000 miles. As it is, it seems we will sit it out and huddle in the laundry room, it has no windows and it is placed in the middle of the house.

SOLIDARITY @TIF. Thinking and praying for you and yours! I also have a daughter living in a Tiny House near Lake Okeechobee, FL... ugh. They just got and installed Hurricane Shutters and Tie-Downs for the house... (Luckily, and just in time...)
I fervently hope you daughter will be OK, Alegandron! Reminds me, I still need to finalize the shutter installation. Was hoping to at least have some sunlight in the house as long as possible.
Thank you @Eduard ... I am concerned. Although inland from the ocean, they are living in a Tiny House... I hope they have tied it down well... it is the kind you build on a trailer bed, so it is less width than a road lane.
Latest news is that it will hit Florida as a Category 4, only marginally better than the Cat 5 it is now.
well, i hate to be the bearer of bad news.. but there's another coming right behind Irma.. Jose... wow...
Really not trying to think about Jose now, since he looks to be following his wife Irma on the same path towards Florida.
Just came back from my last preparedness trip to the store. I managed to score 6 bottles of wine and a case of beer. Now I'm trully ready for this storm.
