I don't get it, why would Aureolus strike coins in the name of Postumus?

I've been waiting for the right Postumus double sestertius to come along for my collection. Then it did, but it was consigned to me and I didnt own it. So, I waited and saved my pennies. Wouldnt you know it, just as I was near to affording it someone bought it. Well, the consignor comes first, not me, so off it went to its new home. Ah well. There will be others. I'd rather have a galley reverse anyway! Still, this one was quite magnificent in hand.

Too bad @Ken Dorney. Perhaps you should have placed it on "lay-a-way".

Just finished imaging this old galley reverse double sest of mine literally moments before seeing your post. Rather junky and probably not in a condition you'd prefer, but these get so pricey if in decent, problem-free state.

I dont know that they exist problem free. Quality control at the time was rather lax, though one can get some wonderful antoninianii.

You're probably right. I initially wrote "relatively problem-free", but on second thought decided to go with a little optimism.

This is the only other published facing Aureus of Postumus that I know of.

You can also see him in a Lion skin headdress and in double portraits with various gods...
