Well, I dropped out of college for reasons which are complex but it didn't have a negative affect on me (well, maybe....I am not certain of the difference between affect and effect, though I know there is a difference and maybe I learned enough to wonder if it is past or present tense or something else entirely! Or is it the difference between American and British English, such as Grey and Gray???). I went to Chico State (previously biggest party state in the country, though that was not the reason for my leaving). Its not the end of the world to not go to college. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that 'real world' experience is just as good or better. I turned out just fine (at least to my mind). Make sure your brother sees all these posts. We are all there to support him!
I went to UC Berkeley and struggled the first half of my freshman year. As an 18 year old I wasn't really ready for the social aspects of college. I turned it around after that and graduated and went to work, then got a master's (still working) and a doctorate. But I have a similar story to tell, some of the most successful people I know never went to college or dropped out very early. So in the grand scheme of things it doesn't mean that much.
Thanks everybody! My brother does read the posts and he appreciates the support! I think there was a bit of shame attached to his decision, but he wouldn't say anything about it. He smiled while he was reading, so, I think you guys did a lot to help him feel better. Y'all pwn! Keep up the good work! Erin
Erin, those coins are outstanding. I am sure your bro will take up further education when he feels it is appropriate, in the meantime you can both enjoy these coins.
That Daric is SUPER!!!!!! MFB is always cool, and who doesn't love a big ol' sweet Ptolemy. Great scores! My first semester in college was a total disaster, 1.3 GPA! I wish I would have been a bit less "social"! LOL! I currently teach at a small community college (I hope my students don't see this! ), like orfew's school, we have several resources for people that have difficulties in the standard classroom setting. Just keep the door open to going to college some day. I think @Kentucky gave some good advice. Whatever you do, keep posting those sweet coins!
